Grapevine Connect approached PMYS in order to offer bespoke cellular internet offerings that improved the connectivity that the current on-board routers could deliver.

PMYS required a simple, sleek and powerful solution to offer to customers who need a solid connectivity solution on board that would work both whilst moored in the marina and also whilst cruising out at sea. Additionally a good internal WiFi network was required to deliver the connectivity to all wireless and wired devices throughout the vessel.

Grapevine solution architects came up with a solution that perfectly matched the criteria that Princess Motor Yacht Sales set out. Being a Peplink Gold Partner, it was the natural choice to leverage an enterprise grade cellular router by Peplink. As with all applications, it was important to spec the whole equipment list correctly especially the antenna to be used. In addition to this, separate antenna was installed to improve the WiFi WAN connectivity whist moored in the marina.

The benefits of the new solution were immediately seen. Users now have the ability to connect the Peplink router to the WiFi of the marina so that they are not using their own data via the cellular network. This then seamlessly fails over to the cellular modem when the yacht leaves the marina. Due to the specialist marine antenna that Grapevine have supplied, strong cellular connection is obtained and maintained. This can also be manually adjusted via the mobile app provided by Peplink.
